BRITISH expatriates Brian and Diane Ames are selling their magnificent Brisbane penthouse to return home.

Immaculate and stylish himself, Mr Ames was a director of Harrods Management with the responsibility of looking after all VIPs, nationally and internationally for many years.

In his role at Harrods he worked with many celebrities and royals, while his wife Diane Ames is a retired consultant physician, who worked at St Mary’s NHS Trust and Imperial College in London.

The pair have a yearning to return to the UK to be with their friends and family after three years in Brisbane.

“I was very keen to retire in the sun and my wife, a Queenslander despite 45 years in London, was also happy to return,” Mr Ames said.

“I love the long terrace overlooking the river where my olives, cumquats, lemons, limes, herbs and other plants all grow happily in the sunshine,” he said.

“It’s great to pick your own lemons and limes for those lovely sundowner G&Ts.  The views are spectacular, especially at twilight and in the early morning.”

Dr Ames loves the dining end of the terrace especially at dinner with the reflections on the water.

“It’s a wonderful place to eat. We also love the kitchen surrounded by glass and opening onto the fantastic terrace views.”

Just like a high end department store, the dressing room and wardrobe is great with enough cupboards, drawers and shelves to hold everything  in order including hat boxes.
